Metro Nashville Police officials have asked for the public's help in their search for a person of interest in a shooting on the campus of Tennessee State University.

On Friday, officers announced they were searching for 19-year-old Michiline McClain, who is wanted for questioning in connection with Tuesday morning’s shooting in the parking lot of Boyd Hall that left 19-year-old Larry Bates critically wounded.

Detectives believed McClain has important information concerning the case.

Investigators said Bates got into a gold Chevrolet sedan, which detectives think is tied to McClain, in the parking lot of a convenience market near the TSU campus minutes before the shooting.  The car was driven onto campus and into the Boyd Hall parking lot.

A witness saw Bates standing outside the vehicle on the passenger side just before he was shot. The car left the campus moments later.

Efforts by detectives to locate McClain, who is last known to have lived on Lunn Court, and the Chevrolet sedan have been unsuccessful since Wednesday.

Anyone with information on where may be was asked to contact the Emergency Communications Center at 615-862-8600.
