NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Following a standoff involving SWAT, a man who was wanted for a shooting at Cumberland View homes Friday afternoon has been taken into custody.
Metro officers first responded to the shooting on the 2300 block of 25th Avenue North at 4:20 p.m. There, they found 19-year-old Treshaun David on the ground with a gunshot wound to his head. The victim was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The call came in after two suspects attempted to rob David and another victim, Metro police said, after which one of them shot David. The gunman then fled on foot, and could be seen in surveillance footage fleeing the area and running in and out of buildings in the Cumberland View housing area.
One man present at the scene fled in a white Ford sedan with a sunroof, and is wanted for questioning.
With the help of the second victim involved in the robbery and an informant, one of the suspects was identified as Devonte Sherley.
Early Saturday morning around 1, police located Sherley in a residence at Cayce Homes in East Nashville. As he was barricaded in the home, SWAT was called to the scene.
After a non-violent standoff, Sherley was taken into custody just before 4 a.m.
The pictured gunman is still being sought by Metro police. If you have any information on who he is or his whereabouts, police ask that you call Crime Stoppers at (615) 742-7463.
