Neighbors in the mid-state have reported a disturbing crime: a carjacking that starts off as a simple prank.

Neighbors report that it starts with a group of people throwing a rock at someone’s car just to get them to stop then they take things a step further and steal their car.

Metro Police told the neighbors they are increasing patrols in the area, but some worry if the carjackings continue, elderly neighbors could be targeted next.

“They're liable to have a heart attack, liable to die, anything can happen,” said neighbor Edward Arnold.

Metro Police said if someone does throw a rock at your car, try to remember a description of the people who threw the rock and report it, but police said do not stop.
