SMYRNA, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police are seeking a suspect in a carjacking that went wrong in Smyrna on Tuesday.
The victim was eating lunch at her place of work when an 18-year-old man approached her car and attempted to steal it. The woman's coworkers saw what was happening and came outside to assist her.
The victim's coworkers were able to make contact with the suspect and physically restrained him until police could arrive.
An accomplice of the 18-year-old was in a vehicle nearby and proceeded to assault those people who were restraining the other suspect. The initial victim of the carjacking was struck by the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. The second suspect then fled the scene before police arrived.
Smyrna police arrived at the scene shortly after and arrested 18-year-old Ryan Austin Craddock, charging him with Attempted Carjacking.
The victim was transported to Stone Crest Medical Center where she was treated and released.
