Police: Suspect sought in wreck, stolen car pursuit that led to officer firing shot

LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WTVF) — La Vergne police have asked the public’s help locating a stolen vehicle and its driver following a police pursuit that led to an officer firing at the car.

The ordeal began Friday around 5:30 a.m. when police got a call that a car had flipped on Murfreesboro Road near Veterans Memorial Parkway.

A Good Samaritan had pulled over to help and call 911 when the driver of the wrecked car got into the Samaritan’s car and began to back up. As he did this, police said he hit one of the people that was in the wrecked vehicle.

The suspect took off in the stolen car and turned around on Murfreesboro Road, traveling west in eastbound lanes. Police said he began driving towards an officer and that officer fired one shot at the vehicle.

A pursuit ensued on Murfreesboro Road, but police ended the chase shortly after.

Police said anyone who sees a white Hyundai Sonata with the license plate 9W87K8 should call 911 or La Vergne Police at (615) 793-7744. The vehicle that crashed on Murfreesboro Road was reported stolen out of Nashville.
