Steven Reid Dickerson has declared victory in the race for Tennessee's Senate District 20.
Those with Dickerson's campaign said they claimed victory after calculating early vote totals and returns.
His opponent, Erin Coleman, conceded just before 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Dickerson released the following statement on his win:
“First and foremost I want to thank my family for their unwavering support during this journey. I
also want to thank my campaign team for their tremendous efforts that helped make this possible.
And finally I want to thank the voters of the best state Senate district in Tennessee for placing
their confidence in me for another four years, I am honored to receive their support. This was a
campaign focused on expanding opportunity and it was clear the voters responded to our
message and I look forward to continuing that work during the next four years.”
