Thousands of voters in Davidson County turned out for the first weekend of early voting.
While early voting in Tennessee's presidential primary started on Wednesday, many voters Saturday said this weekend was the first chance they had time to go out and cast their vote to determine who will be the nominee for president in the Democratic and Republican parties.
The state said nearly 2,400 people showed up to the polls Saturday.
“We try to get in early so we can beat the lines, so we don't wait until the last minute and something happens and we can’t get to get down here,” said Terry Tate, an early voter. “I definitely want to make sure that I vote.”
Early voting was set to continue Sunday through February 23 at 11 locations throughout Davidson County.
Primary Election Day has been scheduled for March 1 -- Super Tuesday.
