Ahead of Super Tuesday, NewsChannel 5 political analyst Pat Nolan said the key to win the Republican nomination in Tennessee may lie in the evangelical vote.
It's a group that originally supported Ted Cruz strongly in earlier states' primaries.
Cruz made a campaign stop in Nashville last week.
But Nolan said Donald Trump's successive wins have built a momentum that may be too strong to overcome.
"In politics, nothing succeeds like being a winner, and a winner with momentum is even harder to beat, and I think that's what Ted Cruz is having to deal with," Nolan said.
Cruz's sole victory in the primary races so far has been in the Iowa caucuses.
Nolan said this may be the most candidate attention Tennesseans see this political year, mainly because Tennessee isn't much of a battleground in the general election. Tennessee hasn't voted for a Democrat for president since Bill Clinton in 1996.
