A Portland man has been charged with one count of rape of a child.
Reports stated 26-year-old Johnny M. McDaniel was arrested Wednesday after an indictment charged him on July 3.
Authorities with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation had been looking into a report of the sexual assault of a child in Portland. That investigation led to McDaniel as the person allegedly responsible, according to officials.
Further details on the case were not released. Police only confirmed the victim was under the age of 18, and the crime happened on March 24.
McDaniel was being held in the Sumner County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
