Projects by the Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission have increased, in part, due to the growing popularity of Nashville.
"We've seen an increase of 40% in projects that we've assisted," said Bob Raines, Executive Director for the TN Film, Entertainment and Music Commission.
Raines said the type of projects vary from music videos to social media platform content. He said production companies have been looking into popular neighborhoods like 12 South and East Nashville.
Homeowners can register their property online by posting 10 pictures of their home, Raines said they have over 2000 registered properties in their database.
The TN Film Commission does not negotiate contracts for properties selected for a project, their role is to make the properties available to producers and if there's a match the production company will contact the homeowner directly.
Homeowners need to make sure they look at the contract carefully, check the validity of the company and also whether or not they have liability and property coverage.
"it's also a good idea before a production company enters your property or your home to do a walk through, take pictures before the project begins," said Raines. "Make sure cleanup is included in the contract."
How much to charge is up to you, projects can range from $50 to $25,000 a day depending on the length and type of shoot.
"you have to be careful with what production company you go with and you have to read the contracts carefully" said Jason, a homeowner who has already registered his property with the TN Film Commission.
