Less than one week ago, Project 615 launched a t-shirt featuring a simple design and just four words. The shirt reads, 'Heart for the Smokies,' and is the company's response to deadly wildfires that burned through east Tennessee homes and businesses.
The t-shirt was a hit.
"We do several campaigns benefiting Nashville nonprofits every year," said Project 615 co-owner Derek Evans. "Those typically raise between three and four thousand dollars. This one, in four days, raised more than $45,000."
For each t-shirt sold Project 615 will donate 100% of the profit to the Gatlinburg Relief Fund. So far, the store hasn't been able to keep up with demand.
"A lot of us are working weekends and extra hours to make sure the customers who want to support this great cause get them in a timely manner," said Project 615 production director Ryan Appell.
Project 615 will continue accepting t-shirt orders online through Thursday. The shirts are also for sale at their East Nashville store located at 1006 Fatherland Street.
