NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Putnam County deputy was severely injured while responding to an emergency call.
Officials say Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chris Lynn was on 12th Street in Cookeville when he was involved in a crash with a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
Lynn was driving west on 12th Street with his lights and sirens on when the driver of the truck turned left - in front of the patrol car - onto Stadium Drive, hitting the patrol car. The truck came to final stop on the sidewalk on the left side of the road and the Lynn was pushed off the road and hit a concrete light pole on the left side of the road.
The driver of the pickup truck was not seriously injured, but Deputy Lynn was. He was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center and then moved to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is in critical condition.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
