SPRING HILL, Tenn. - Animal Pros have been based in Hendersonville, but they have traveled across the Mid-State for extraction calls, ranging from raccoons, skunks, coyotes and snakes.
"I was the kid that always went down to the creek in front of the house and brought home to mom what I caught," technician Adam Warden said.
It’s not a job for everybody, but Warden is a pro. Recently he was called to the Home Depot store in Spring Hill on a snake call.
"They done the right thing, their protocol. They closed down the area, called us out. We got out there immediately," Warden explained.
A customer reported seeing what they thought was a rattlesnake.
"We treat every call like it is and then when we get out there, most of the time it's not," said Warden.
However, in this instance it was, and it was all caught on camera.
Warden used a snake tong, with a GoPro attached to it to snag the reptile.
"It was right underneath a shelf that had your products on it," he said.
The snake wiggled furiously before taking a few strikes at the tongs Warden was holding.
"They're not a very common snake that we remove, by no means," Warden said.
He said Tennessee has been home to four very venomous snakes. "We have your Timber rattler, which this was, your copperhead, your water moccasin and also the western pygmy rattlesnake," explained Warden.
No one knew how long the snake had made the Home Depot its home, but thanks to some vigilant shoppers it was taken care of properly.
State regulations have required companies like Animal Pros to get rid of poisonous snakes on the spot.
