Red light scam targeting drivers in Clarksville: What you need to know

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — There’s a new scam in Clarksville that tries to convince drivers to pay up if they were caught running a red light.

Clarksville Police said the scam consists of an email or phone call that claims you've been photographed at Wilma Rudolph and Needmore Road.

The scammer wants you to pay a fee through Easy Pay Center within 72 hours.

In the email, there is also a link to contact police, but officers say don't click it. If you get the call, the person on the other end says they're from the CPD Photo Unit – that's a lie.

Police said the entire thing is an attempt to get your personal information. All red light notice violations are sent through the mail.
