(WTVF) — Rep. Mike Carter (R -- Ooltewah) says he’s continuing to improve and thanked hospital staff as he battles COVID-19.
Carter tweeted an update on his condition Tuesday, saying he’s “feeling much, much better” and has been moved to a regular room.
Feeling much, much better today. Moved to a regular room last night. Up and moving around, breathing easily. Hope to be home very soon.

Can’t thank the fantastic staff at Erlanger enough. Our community is lucky to have such a first rate hospital. Thanks again for your prayers.
Last week, House Republican Caucus Chairman Jeremy Faison, of Cosby, confirmed that Carter was in the intensive care unit at Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga for COVID-19.
Carter is chairman of the House Civil Justice Committee but was absent during the special legislative session. He is the second Tennessee lawmaker known to have tested positive for the virus. The first reported being asymptomatic.
