The former teacher accused of kidnapping a Maury County teenager has been brought back to Nashville, where he appeared in federal court.
During Tuesday's hearing, a Judge set Cummins' preliminary hearing for Friday at 1 p.m.
He faces a federal charge of the transportation of a minor across state lines to have sexual intercourse. If convicted, he would serve no less than 10 years up to life in prison.
Tad Cummins had been held in federal custody in Sacramento after he and the 15-year-old at the center of an AMBER Alert were found in California.
He and the teen were missing for about a month. Cummins was charged with kidnapping, sexual contact with a minor, and transportation of a minor across state lines to have sexual intercourse.
They were found after staying at least a night in a remote cabin 2,500 miles from home near Cecilville, California, near the Oregon border.
Cummins was first booked into the Henderson County Detention Center in Kentucky before returning to Tennessee. He will remain in custody until trial.
