The Nashville Rescue Mission celebrated Thanksgiving by preparing 5,000 meals for the men and women of the Rescue Mission, and NewsChannel 5 was there to lend a helping hand.

The feast was served by some familiar faces, like Mayor Megan Barry, as well as our own Vicki Yates, Carrie Sharp, Jennifer Kraus, Rhori Johnston, Lelan Statom, Nick Beres, Emily Luxen, Rebecca Schleicher, and Blayke Roznowski.

"It's always such a treat to come to the Rescue Mission the day before Thanksgiving," said Mayor Barry. "They did 500 turkeys yesterday, and they will serve all of them today to the folks of this community."

The Rescue Mission has always been seeking more volunteers for the 1,800 meals they give out daily, as well as for teaching, tutoring, and childcare.
