The Grand Ole Opry opened the first phase of its $12 million dollar expansion.

The project was announced last fall. It will include a larger, $5,000 square-foot retail space, a new box office, and more parking.

Representatives for the Opry say the changes will make going to the Opry far more fun and will improve the Opry's community.

There will also be a new state of the art theater tour and event space. Plans for those updates are expected to be revealed in early 2019.
