MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man in Rutherford County has been accused of choking his 2-month-old son this week.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office said deputies saw 37-year-old Roger Dewayne Watts at his home on Tuesday night. Law enforcement was called to the area after receiving a call that a man later identified as Watts removed his clothing and left it in the street. While searching for Watts, deputies received a call about the infant.
Responding deputies described the infant as looking lifeless and blue. Law enforcement performed CPR on the baby until he began to breathe again. He was taken to the hospital, given life-saving treatment and is expected to be discharged on Wednesday or Thursday.
Watts was charged with attempted murder, child abuse and resisting arrest and is being held in jail on a $306,000 bond.
