Hair stylists and makeup artists across Nashville have raised money for ovarian cancer victims and research.
They joined forces with Frances Williams Preston Laboratories at the Vanderbilt-Ingram cancer Center fir Nashville's first-ever Salon Week.
During the week of Sept. 12-17 some of the city's best salons have offered services and products throughout the week - with one goal in mind: to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and funds for research of the disease.
The money raised stays local funding research at the Frances Williams Preston Laboratories at the Vanderbilt-Ingram cancer Center.
Elan Salon in Nashville got a jump start on the fundraising by surpassing their goal of $20,000 before the week began.
"Here at our salon, several of our stylists are donating a portion of their commissions and the salon will match that. And then we did an online auction to raise money," said Sherry Atkinson.
