NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Country singer Sam Hunt was charged with DUI early Thursday morning after driving the wrong way down a Nashville road, according to a police report.

The singer posted a statement on social media apologizing for his decision.

"Wednesday night I decided to drive myself home after drinking at a friend’s show in downtown Nashville. It was a poor and selfish decision and I apologize to everyone who was unknowingly put at risk and let down by it. It won’t happen again."

The report said officers spotted the driver traveling the wrong way on northbound Ellington Parkway near Ben Allen Road. He exited on Cleveland Street and drove to Gallatin Avenue where officers pulled him over when he reportedly crossed the center line several times.
