The westbound lane of Interstate 24 in Montgomery County has been blocked due to a crash involving an empty school bus.

Officials with the Tennessee Department said it happened around 4:27 p.m. at the Kentucky-Tennessee state line and Clarksville urban boundary.

They said a Kentucky Department of Highways brine truck was heading wes on I-24 near the Kentucky Welcome Center when it was rear-ended by an school bus being transported cross-country.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital, and there were no children on board the bus.

TDOT crews didn’t expect the road to cleared until around 6 p.m.

Officials suggested westbound traffic to take I-24 Tennessee Exit 4 or Exit 1 at Clarksville and find a connection to US 41-Alternate to return to I-24 at the Hopkinsville-Ft. Campbell Exit 86.
