NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — If you live in nashville, you've definitely seen electric scooters. But now one couple is warning against them after the scooters were used to break into their car.
Darlene and her husband were visiting Nashville from Alabama. They were staying with their son at the Monroe apartment complex in Germantown.
On Saturday morning, they received an email alerting them that their car was broken into.
"My husband went downstairs with our son to find that the front passenger window had been struck with something creating cracks in the window," said Darlene.
Their 2017 white Escalade had been broken into along with another car in the same parking garage. The garage, Darlene said belongs to the Monroe complex.
Darlene said there was surveillance video of the incident. In the video, you can see scooters being used to smash a couple of car windows and breaking into them.
"You can notice in the opposite side of the parking lot a smaller white SUV that had same thing happen, smashed windows, and that someone gained access to the car console," said Darlene.
Darlene said it is going to cost their family hundreds of dollars to fix their car windows. Fortunately nothing was taken from their car
"I would just question everything about them from a safety stand point," said Darlene, "now people are using them as weapons, that's another reason to question their value."
Darlene and her husband has filed a police report.
