Butch Jones' time as head coach of the UT Vols has ended, prompting an exhaustive search to find his replacement, as the university's struggling football program looks to regain its standing as a winning program.

After an embarrassing loss to Mizzou on Saturday, Jones resigned, at the request of Athletic Director John Currie.

Currie announced that Brady Hoke would finish out the Vols' season as interim head coach, a position he is not likely to hold permanently.

"I have to stay in the present of what we want to accomplish for these seniors to that that’s what this is about, finishing for them in a positive manner," Hoke said in a press conference on Monday.

UT has two home games left at Neyland Stadium. Analysts believed a new head coach would likely be announced as soon as the Vols season ends.
