Shots were fired after a Nashville carjacking when the victim tried to hunt down the suspects responsible.

Metro Nashville Police said the situation began around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Bell Road.

A man had stopped to get his mail when at least two people in a black SUV pulled up to rob him. The victim said one man got out of the car, put a gun to his head, and stole his Jeep.

Both suspects then took off.

Officers said the victim and his friends then tried to track down the suspects themselves. They said they found the stolen green Jeep Liberty and the black SUV just two miles away at a gas station.

There was apparently some sort of confrontation and the suspects fled again.

They said the victim and his friends continued to follow them, and a few minutes later, one of the suspects got out and fired shots at them.

No one was hit in the gunfire and the suspects got away. Police said they’re searching for the black SUV and the green Jeep Liberty.
