NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man's body was recovered during a search of Percy Priest Lake on Friday night.

Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency said a man and a woman on a personal watercraft were leaving the no wake zone near Four Coroners Marina when their watercraft overturned.

A friend on a second watercraft was able to help the woman to safety. The friend tried to rescue the man as well, but wasn't successful.

TWRA officers and Metro Office of Emergency Management worked to find the man using a remote operated vehicle that uses sonar imaging.

Officials then found the man's body near where he was last seen and divers were able to go into the lake and recover the body.

TWRA said he was not wearing a personal flotation device when his body was recovered, but an unbuckled personal flotation device was found nearby.

This is the eighth boating death in Tennessee this year, TWRA said.
