NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A second person was charged with murder in connection to a deadly stabbing in East Nashville that happened in early September.

Cedric Thompson, 27, was found stabbed to death on September 4 on Bethwood Drive. Metro police said 24-year-old Deondre Sanders stabbed Thompson. He was arrested the following day and charged with criminal homicide.

Police said the stabbing happened after an argument over a woman.

On November 24, Deondre Sanders' brother Trevon Sanders was also arrested in connection to the stabbing. A grand jury indictment charged Trevon Sanders with first-degree murder.

Trevon Sanders is a student-athlete at Middle Tennessee State University, participating in the Track and Field team. MTSU Associate Athletics Director Mark Owens said he has since been suspended from the team.

"The individual has been suspended indefinitely from all track and field team and athletic activities. Neither the university nor the athletic department have any additional information or comments at this time," Owens said.
