NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Active and former servicemembers are running from Connecticut to Atlanta for a good cause.
"Shepherd's Men" are running half-marathons for seven days to raise awareness about veteran suicides.
The goal is to raise $1.2 million for the Shepard Center in Atlanta where the run will end. It provides free mental and physical rehabilitation for veterans dealing with the effects of their service.
Runners here will be doing 13 and a half of the total 1,100 miles during the seven days. But they'll be doing it all with a 22-pound bag on their back which carries a special meaning.
