Posted

The city of Cookeville said goodbye to one of its well-known and well respected firefighters.

Visitation for Lieutenant Bruce Womack, known in schools across the state as "Fireman Bruce," was held Thursday at Tennessee Tech's Hooper Eblen Center.

He was in Emergency Services for 38 years, 33 of those as a part of the Cookeville Fire Department.

Womack passed away Saturday after a long battle with Leukemia.

Several friends, family and colleagues of Fireman Bruce were attended the visitation to pay their respects.

A tributewall was set up online for anyone wanting to share a memory of Fireman Bruce.
