A female student reported a sexual assault while on campus by a man she'd met through an online dating app.
The student told Middle Tennessee state University Police that the assault happened on Oct. 1.
She said she was not injured in the assault, and that the man was not a MTSU student.
University Police and other offices on campus were working with the student to provide any support services she needed.
Officials with he university police department urged caution to all students using online dating apps and offer some safety tips when meeting individuals:
- Get to know the person before meeting them.
- Meet in a public place.
- Tell a friend or family member where and when you are having the meeting.
- Drive yourself.
