Metro Nashville Police officers responded to a shooting in East Nashville in which nearby witnesses watched the whole thing unfold.
Officials said it happened at 1414 Chester Avenue around 8:25 p.m.
Witnesses told police the victim and three other people were near the stop sign at Chester Avenue and Scott Avenue.
They then heard several gunshots and saw one of the suspects stand over the victim after he was on the ground and continued to fire shots.
Officials said the victim was shot three times - once in the back, in the side and in the head.
The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where doctors stated the injuries were non-life threatening.
Police said the suspects ran away toward the 1500 block of Porter Avenue.
