NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A driver was injured in shooting during altercation on the road in Nashville.

Metro Nashville Police officials say a mother and teen were in a car together when the teen opened her car door at the intersection of Dickerson and Hart Lane to exchange words with a man in a brown sedan.

It's not clear why they exchanged words, but that's when the man fired two shots at the teen and her mother.

Even though the mother was hit in the arm, she drove to Jere Baxter Middle School for help.

A Metro School official said the woman began banging on the door of the school. Administrators noticed the blood on her and called 911.

The school was placed on lockdown for a short time, but were dismissed at 4 p.m.
