A homeowner answered the door Tuesday night only to find a gunshot victim on their porch asking for help.
According to Metro Nashville Police officials, the shooting happened on the corner of 2nd Avenue South and LaFayette Street.
The neighbor on the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue South called to report the victim on their porch, who was hit in the abdomen.
The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical but stable condition.
Another shooting took place less than a mile away around the same time, but the incidents have not been connected.
