Smyrna doctor charged with sexual battery of patient

SMYRNA, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Smyrna doctor was charged and indicted on multiple counts of sexual battery.

According to Rutherford County court documents, Dr. Nelson Jacks Mangione, from Brentwood, works at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center.

He was indicted on Jan. 7 on six counts of sexual battery against a patient.

Mangione was booked and made a $25,000 bond. His next hearing was scheduled for March 20.

Officials with TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center released the following statement:

The health and wellbeing of our patients and staff are always our primary concern. The physician is not seeing patients at this time, and we are cooperating with authorities in their investigation of the allegations.
