Police were called to a fast food restaurant in South Nashville after an employee was pistol-whipped during a robbery.
The incident happened around 11:00 p.m. Wednesday at a Popeye's on Nolensville Pike.
Metro Nashville Police officers said two suspects came in through the back door while an employee was taking out the trash.
The victim was forced to open the safe at gunpoint, and was then pistol-whipped.
Officers said the other suspect stayed in the hallway while the safe was being emptied. The suspects fled the scene on foot and got away with cash.
