SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Springfield mother had to have a portion of her leg removed after she was struck by a bullet on July 4th.
The shooting happened around midnight at a church on School Street. Clarisa Roberlo was inside her church when she was hit in the leg by a single round.
Springfield Police Chief Jason Head said shots were fired during fireworks and one of the rounds went through the church and hit Roberlo. Police said they do not believe this was a hate crime.
Witnesses told police they saw an SUV drive past the church shortly before the shooting. After the shots, they said a white Infinity SUV was seen on School Street. Police did not have a detailed suspect description at this time.
21-year-old Roberlo was later taken to Tristar Skyline Medical Center, where her leg had to be amputated at the knee. A Go Fund Me has been established to help her and her family during her recovery.
