Juvenile Charged In Fire At Elementary School

Officials confirmed a female juvenile was charged with 3rd degree arson after a fire at an elementary school.

The fire happened around 1:30 p.m. Friday at Gamaliel Elementary School in Kentucky.

Authorities said five employees were at the school when the fire started, but everyone was able to get out safely. No injuries were reported.

According to architects, the structural damage was estimated to be around $1 million.

The juvenile was charged with 3rd degree arson, 1st degree criminal mischief, and 3rd degree burglary. She was released to her parents.

An arson investigator said additional charges have been expected as the investigation remained ongoing.
