Authorities have identified the 11-year-old girl who was killed over the weekend in a shooting in Franklin County.
Officials with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said Sienna Dusk Owens, of Decherd, was fatally shot around 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Law enforcement officers were called to the garage of a home in the 100 block of Honey Lane and found her with a gunshot wound to the upper left area of her back.
First responders performed CPR until medical personnel arrived. She was taken to Southern Tennessee Medical Center where she died.
Officials said several children were home at the time, as well as one adult.
Owens was a student at North Middle School.
The alleged shooter was said to be a 12-year-old boy, who is also a student at the school.
Investigators said evidence in the case will ultimately be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.
Visitation for Owens has been set for 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester. Her funeral will be held the following day at 3 p.m. with burial services at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
