DAVIDSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVF) — I-24 West remains closed between Old Hickory Boulevard and Whites Creek Pike after a Clarksville woman was killed Thursday morning in a chain-reaction crash involving three tractor-trailers near Madison.
Metro Nashville Police identified the driver as 29-year-old Madeline Mitchell.
Police said traffic had slowed near Old Hickory Boulevard because of an earlier crash involving a tractor-trailer that had overturned. Investigators said Mitchell failed to slow down for reasons that remain unknown and crashed into the back of another tractor-trailer.
That truck was then pushed into the back of a third tractor-trailer. The driver of the third truck suffered minor injuries.
Mitchell died at the scene.
Police said there were no signs that any of the drivers were impaired.
