Officials said a deputy wounded in an eastern Tennessee shooting has been released from the hospital.
Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford said Deputy Jenna Markland was released from Johnson City Medical Center on Thursday, about 12 hours after she was admitted with bullet wounds to her head and face.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Kelly Lee Pitts has been charged with seven counts of attempted murder.
Lunceford said he responded to a call Wednesday evening reporting a drunken man waving a gun. He said he got Pitts' family out of the residence, but when other deputies arrived, the man began firing toward them.
A second victim, neighbor Brandy Hyder, was shot in the hand and taken to Sycamore Shoals Hospital. It was unclear whether she was still hospitalized.
