Officials said a Lexington High School teacher and coach has been facing a rape charge.
Media outlets reported Henderson County Sheriff Brian Duke said 34-year-old Adam Yates was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated statutory rape.
Duke said the alleged victim in the case is a minor. Officials haven't said whether the victim was a student at the high school.
The investigation remained ongoing.
According to the school's website, Yates has been teaching in the special education department, and was also listed as a football/baseball coach.
The Jackson Sun reported Henderson County Schools Superintendent Steve Wilkinson couldn't immediately be reached for comment Wednesday evening.
It was unclear if Yates had an attorney.
