Authorities said a Tennessee man has been charged with stealing cattle from an Overton County farm where he had worked.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a Thursday news release that 37-year-old Anthony Allen Hayes has been indicted on theft over $10,000. He has been arrested and was being held on $85,000 bond at the Overton County Jail.
The TBI said it began investigating a report that cattle were missing from Tennessee Tech University Oakley Farm in Livingston. According to the TBI, agents found that Hayes, a former farmhand, was responsible for the theft of 15 head of cattle.
The phone rang unanswered at the jail on Thursday evening, and The Associated Press was unable to obtain information for a lawyer for Hayes.
