The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a boy was struck and killed by a motorcycle after he was dropped off at a school bus stop in Harriman.
The Highway Patrol said in a news release that after the bus had left, 12-year-old Jacob Paterson of Harriman crossed a road to check the mail when he was hit on Friday.
The statement said the 16-year-old motorcycle operator was taken to a hospital. The teen's name wasn't released. No charges were immediately filed.
Media outlets reported grief counselors were scheduled to be available to talk to students at the victim's school Monday.
