Authorities have arrested a woman who received thousands of dollars from people after claiming that she had cancer.
Local news organizations reported the Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrested 20-year-old Ashley Lively on a charge of theft on Wednesday after she admitted that she lied about having pancreatic cancer.
Officials said Lively raked in more than $8,000 through local community groups.
She was booked at the Monroe County Jail and made her $5,000 bond. It was unclear if she had an attorney.
