While everyone has started their Thanksgiving celebrations, some Smyrna high schoolers were headed to Hawaii for the performance of a lifetime.
The Stewart's Creek High School band was one of 30 bands selected to perform in the Waikiki Holiday Parade to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor.
They've been working in sections and on their own to learn music for the performances, parade protocol and Department of Defense etiquette.
They'll spend a full week on the island of Oahu fitting in historical and cultural landmark tours while performing at the Pearl Harbor Naval Station, Ford Island, and in the parade.
They're set to head back next Wednesday.
