A Storm 5 Alert has been issued for Tuesday afternoon due to the threat of strong to severe weather in the Middle Tennessee area.

An unsettled weather pattern is bringing the chance for more scattered storms, with the primary threat being damaging winds.

Meteorologist Heather Mathis said the Storm 5 Alert is in effect until 8 p.m.

Portions of Southern Kentucky have the greatest chance of seeing severe storms throughout the afternoon and evening hours.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 3 p.m. A Flash Flood Watch is also out for the same area until 11 p.m.

The biggest concern for counties in Southern Kentucky will be heavy downpours, capable of causing flash flooding, along with damaging winds.
