Storm 5 Alert: Heavy rain brings threat of flooding in Middle Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Storm 5 Alert is in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday as heavy rain and storms could cause flooding across the Mid-State.

A Flash Flood Watch is out for the area below until 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Franklin, Smyrna and Brentwood until 1:45 p.m.

An additional 2-3 inches of rain with locally higher amounts up to 4-5 inches could be possible through the afternoon.

A cold front will move through the area on Sunday night, which could dry out the area around dinner time.
