A Storm 5 Alert was issued for Wednesday evening and overnight hours into Thursday due to a threat of flooding.
The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for much of Middle Tennessee until 7 p.m. Thursday.
Heavy rain worked its way into the region from the southwest and is expected to bring 2"-4" of rain generally along and South of Interstate 40 through Nashville then northeast through Sumner County.
Meteorologist Bree Smith said the main concern is for flooding in low-lying areas near or rivers, streams or creeks.
