NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Storm 5 Alert was issued for Thursday evening and night. Severe storms brought heavy rains which prompted flash flooding and damaging winds to the mid-state.
Scattered storms moved across the area Thursday. The storms were efficient rain makers and slow moving which led to flash flooding in low lying areas and flood prone spots.
With recent rain over the last several days, it didn't take much rain for flooding to occur.
Storms moved in from the south and continued to move north throughout the evening. Storms began to hit the Nashville area around 6 p.m.
Lawrence County was one of several areas experiencing flooding. Police asked drivers to avoid Iron City Road.
