NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Storm 5 Alert has been issued for Middle Tennessee through Tuesday night.

Meteorologist Bree Smith expects strong to severe storms to hit the mid-state from now to 8 p.m.

Quick spin-up tornadoes are possible as Tropical Depression Cristobal marches North through Arkansas and Missouri.

The center of Tropical Depression Cristobal will pass West of Tennessee and Kentucky but the outer rain bands will churn across our area for the next 24 hours bringing with them a risk for quick spin-up tornadoes and gusty wind.

The highest tornado threat will be along and West of I-65, although strong to severe storms are still possible for areas East
